Dahab
Dahab, a small village on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, is without a doubt one of the best destinations for freediving worldwide. Accommodation fits all budgets; you can live right at the beach and freedive throughout the whole year. The Red Sea is famous for its consistently clear and warm water and abundance of marine life. Whether you choose to dive at coral reefs or train for a competition, the dive sites offer you all the possibilities.

Food and Accommodation:
You can get a simple room with fan for 2-5 € per day, aircon rooms are starting at 10-12 € per day. Food is mostly western style and quite cheap, 1-4 € per meal.

Weather:
The winter months (January – March) are the coldest. Water temperature drops to 20 degrees Celsius. A combination of short daylight hours, water temperature and wind require a good selection of jumpers, windbreakers and beanies. The summer months (August – September) can be quite hot. During heat waves the air temperature often exceeds 40 degrees Celsius. The months in between can be considered moderate and the most suitable for freediving.

Visibility:
Average visibility underwater is 20-30m.

The Lighthouse
A perfect location for training and fun diving, sheltered from the elements, a step away from your favourite restaurant and only a 5-10 minute stroll from your room. The Lighthouse Reef offers a variety of pinnacles with sand bottoms between them at 15m, 25m and 40m. In the Lighthouse Bay diving up to 60m depth is possible.

The Blue Hole
This dive site offers a spectacular 700m drop-off with massive overhangs and usually exceptional visibility (+30m). Inside the Blue Hole itself a permanent training line can be fixed easily. This location is the preferred spot for deep constant weight training with a maximum depth of 93m and is not affected by wind, waves or currents at all.

Eel Garden
A beautiful dive spot with a shallow coral reef and a sand bottom at 10-20m. Very relaxing, very enjoyable freediving! …and just around the corner of the Lighthouse Reef.

The Canyon
On calm days this is one of the most spectacular locations. The Canyon itself is a large underwater cave with a few entry points between 18m and 52m. Advanced freedivers can enter the canyon for an amazing view. The Canyon’s coral garden offers some of the nicest corals in the Dahab region at depths of around 10-20m.
